The Heller-Wexler Family Camp Series was created through the generosity of Amy Wexler Heller and Robert Heller. Amy and Bob met at Eisner Camp in 1961 and started dating during the summer of 1962. Amy and Bob have built a beautiful life together with two children and 5 grandchildren. They are committed to ensuring that families have access to engaging Jewish experiences at camp throughout the year.
Our Heller-Wexler Family Camps are designed to provide an immersive experience that explores the joys and challenges of family life through a Jewish lens. They provide opportunities for families to enjoy quality time together while meeting other families and sharing experiences that make these weekends unforgettable!
As a result of Amy and Bob’s continuous generosity, we now have financial assistance available to make it possible for more families to participate in the five Family Camps we’re offering during the 2019-2020 school year.
Heller-Wexler Family Camps - 2019-2020
Each year we offer different Family Camps to honor the requests we receive from many of our families. Our Father-Son Family Camp will be back for the 2020-2021 school year and we’re hoping to offer a Father-Daughter Family Camp soon. This year’s Family Camps include:
Mother-Son Family Camp: November 1-3, 2019
At this time, registration is closed for our Mother-Son Family Camp because we're full! To put your name on our waiting list, please email Laura Gurvis at email@example.com.
For Moms and their sons currently in grades K-8
So many of our Moms requested a special weekend away with their boys!
Join us for a weekend of fun! We'll begin on Friday afternoon at 5:30 and welcome Shabbat camp-style, with a lively, kid-friendly musical service, Shabbat dinner and song session. On Saturday, after another kid-friendly Shabbat experience, we'll enjoy wood crafts, sports, cooking and more. Weather permitting, we’ll venture into the woods around Eisner Camp for a hike to Lookout Point, challenge ourselves on our ropes courses, play ball and “fly” on our swing. We’ll spend some time with the Moms exploring the challenges and joys of raising our boys to be confident young men, and mensches! Our superstar counselors will be on hand for some boys-only activities and to provide childcare in the evenings during Mom-only time in Manor House. The weekend concludes at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday.
For families with children currently in grades K-12
Enjoy a family weekend at camp and on the slopes at nearby Ski Butternut, Massachusetts's number one ski resort! We'll begin on Friday afternoon at 5:30 and welcome Shabbat camp-style, with a lively, kid-friendly musical service, Shabbat dinner, song session, and Israeli dancing. Saturday, after another kid-friendly Shabbat experience, we'll have an action -packed day of sports, crafts, games, family challenges and more. Our superstar counselors will be on hand for some kids-only activities and to provide childcare in the evenings during parent-only time in Manor House. On Sunday we'll hit the slopes at Ski Butternut. Activities will resume at camp with dinner and continue into the evening. On Monday, we'll hit the slopes again and then head home directly from Ski Butternut. This Family Camp is perfect for families who want to try skiing for the first time, for advanced skiers, and everybody in between. Some non-skiing families enjoy tubing at Ski Butternut and other non-skiing families join us for the weekend and don’t ski at all. There is much to explore in the Berkshires! All lift tickets, tubing/ski instruction and rentals are arranged by each family directly with Ski Butternut.
Mother-Daughter Family Camp Weekend #2 April 17 - 19, 2020
For Grandmas, Aunts, Moms and girls currently in grades K-8
Our annual Mother-Daughter Family Camps have been so popular and have sold out so quickly that this year we’re offering two options for Moms and their daughters. Choose the weekend that is most convenient for your family – bring your friends! Programmatically, both weekends will be very similar, and both will offer different options for our older girls. We'll begin on Friday afternoon at 5:30 and welcome Shabbat camp-style, with a lively, musical service, Shabbat dinner, song session and Israeli dancing. On Saturday, after another Shabbat experience, we'll enjoy crafts, sports, yoga, cooking and more. Weather permitting, we'll also be outside hiking and challenging ourselves on our ropes course. While the girls are cared for by our superstar staff, there'll be special opportunities for moms to socialize with one another. We'll say our good-byes at 11:00 on Sunday morning.
