The Heller-Wexler Family Camp Series--created through the generosity of Robert and Amy Heller--shape and frame the Shabbat experience through hands-on programs and activities that explore the joys and challenges of family life through a Jewish lens. Created to address the growing challenges and changing face of the modern Jewish family, the retreats provide opportunities for families to enjoy quality time together while meeting other families and sharing experiences that make these weekends unforgettable!

We are offering four Heller-Wexler Family Camps and three brand new day-long Shabbaton programs for the 2018-2019 school year:

Father-Son Weekend: November 30-December 2, 2018
For Dad, Grandpas, Uncles and boys currently in grades K-8.
Join us for a weekend of fun! We'll begin on Friday afternoon at 5:30 p.m. and welcome Shabbat camp-style, with a lively, kid-friendly musical service, Shabbat dinner and song session. On Saturday, after another kid-friendly Shabbat experience, we'll enjoy wood crafts, sports, cooking and more. Weather permitting, we’ll venture into the woods around Eisner Camp for a GPS scavenger hunt, hike to Lookout Point, challenge ourselves on our ropes courses, play ball and “fly” on our swing. Rabbi Eric Gurvis will be our rabbi-in-residence, and along with Eisner’s Director Louis Bordman, will spend some time with the dads exploring the challenges and joys of raising our boys to be strong young men, and mensches! Our superstar counselors will be on hand for some boys-only activities and to provide child care in the evenings during dad-only time in Manor House. The weekend concludes at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday.

Many of our past Mother-Daughter participants who have “aged out” of our program have requested a Mother-Daughter Weekend for their older daughters. This year, we’re adding a second program for our girls in grades 6, 7 and 8. Rabbi Dena Klein will join us from Moving Traditions, to inspire Moms and their daughters as they begin the journey together into the teens years. Rabbi Klein will lead Mom-only, daughter-only and joint programs throughout the weekend. We'll begin on Friday afternoon at 5:30 p.m. and welcome Shabbat camp-style, with a lively, musical service, Shabbat dinner, song session and Israeli dancing. On Saturday, after another Shabbat experience, we'll enjoy crafts, sports, yoga, cooking and more. Weather permitting, we'll also be outside hiking and challenging ourselves on our ropes course. While the girls are cared for by our superstar staff, there'll be special opportunities for moms to socialize with one another. We'll say our good-byes at 11:00 on Sunday morning.
